The Romanian Student Society of Surgery (Societatea Studențească de Chirurgie din România) is a non-governmental organisation sustained by a group of medical students who share the same passion for surgery.
It was established in 2004 by an initial group of six founders, who set out to give their community the resources to develop skilled surgical practitioners. Since then the society has expanded significantly, and today operates ten branches across some of the largest universities in Romania.
What we do
Each branch organises workshops and scientific events to facilitate knowledge sharing and the development of technical skills. SSCR Craiova distinguishes itself through specialised workshops such as Advanced Surgical Techniques, Basic Ophthalmology Surgical Skills, and Live Applied Surgical Techniques, alongside trainer evaluation activities and scientific paper presentations.
Recognition
The Craiova branch achieved third position nationwide in terms of the number of contributing and active members in the 2015–2016 academic year — a reflection of the community that makes TACSSYD possible every single year.
